A serious road accident occurred earlier today along the Kisumu–Bondo road at Namba Kapiyo involving a Moi University bus, a private saloon car, and a lorry. The incident has resulted in several injuries, including lecturers and students from Moi University.
According to preliminary information, the bus was en route to an academic event in Bondo when it collided with the saloon car. A lorry trailing behind reportedly failed to stop in time, leading to a three-vehicle collision. Emergency services responded swiftly, and the injured were transported to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu.
Medical personnel are attending to the injured, with some reported to be in serious condition. The university has activated its crisis response protocols and is coordinating with medical teams and local authorities to ensure that affected individuals receive appropriate care.
The scene of the accident has been cleared, and investigations into the cause are ongoing. Authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution, particularly along the Kisumu–Bondo route, which has seen an increase in traffic incidents in recent months.
