Kiricha, Kipsonoi Ward, Sotik Sub County – June 11, 2025
The County Government of Bomet, through the Department of Health Services and in partnership with A Better World Canada, conducted a highly successful medical camp today at Kiricha Health Centre in Kipsonoi Ward, Sotik Sub County.
The outreach initiative attracted hundreds of residents from the surrounding communities, a clear sign of the increasing demand for accessible, quality healthcare services. The turnout underscored the importance of regular medical camps in addressing the healthcare needs of the people of Bomet.
A broad range of specialized services were provided during the camp, including:
- Cancer Screening
- Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Family Medicine
- Psychiatry and Mental Health
- Orthopedics and Trauma
- Dermatology (Skin Conditions)
- Nutrition and Dietetics
- Pediatrics and Child Health
- Ophthalmology (Eye Clinic)
- Adolescent and Youth Health
- Anesthesia
- Environmental Health
On Day 1, the camp successfully attended to 525 patients, with medical teams managing a variety of conditions:
- Nutritional Assessment: 525
- Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM): 1 child
- Overweight Cases: 102
- Medical Outpatient Clinic (MOPC): 12
- Diabetes: 7
- Other Medical Conditions: 27
- Dermatology: 42
- Eye Clinic: 65
- Dental Clinic: 79
This medical outreach reflects the County Government’s commitment to bringing healthcare services closer to the people, particularly in underserved rural areas.
Governor H.E. Prof. Hillary Barchok lauded the Department of Health Services and A Better World Canada for their tireless efforts in ensuring the health and well-being of Bomet residents.
“Our goal is to ensure that no resident is left behind when it comes to healthcare access. We will continue working with partners and stakeholders to roll out similar initiatives in other parts of Bomet,” said Governor Barchok.
