June 15, 2025 – Palm Beach, FL: In a strongly worded statement released Sunday, former U.S. President Donald Trump called for a peace deal between Israel and Iran amid escalating military conflict between the two regional powers. Trump expressed confidence that diplomacy particularly through trade and strategic negotiation — could once again lead to a breakthrough, much like he claims it did during his first term in office.
“Israel and Iran should make a deal, and will make a deal,” Trump wrote. “Just like I got India and Pakistan to make, in that case by using TRADE with the United States to bring reason, cohesion, and sanity into the talks with two excellent leaders who were able to quickly make a decision and STOP!”
The comments come as hostilities between Israel and Iran enter their third consecutive day, with airstrikes, retaliatory missile barrages, and growing international concern about a broader regional war.
Trump went on to reference several past diplomatic flashpoints during his presidency, claiming personal credit for de-escalating tensions between long-standing rivals:
- Serbia and Kosovo, whose renewed tensions during his term “were ready to break out into war,” were de-escalated by his administration, Trump said, though he criticized President Joe Biden for allegedly undermining long-term stability there.
- Egypt and Ethiopia, whose dispute over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) threatened to destabilize the Nile region, also reached a temporary peace “because of my intervention,” he stated.
Trump’s message included a renewed pledge to bring peace to the Middle East, emphasizing the importance of American-led trade diplomacy. He also claimed that behind-the-scenes talks are already underway: “Many calls and meetings now taking place,” he wrote, hinting at ongoing efforts to mediate the Israel-Iran conflict.
“I do a lot, and never get credit for anything, but that’s OK, the PEOPLE understand,” the former president added. He ended the statement with a slogan styled after his earlier campaign messages: “MAKE THE MIDDLE EAST GREAT AGAIN!”
While no official talks between Iran and Israel have been publicly confirmed, and U.S. State Department officials have not commented on Trump’s assertions, the former president’s message is likely to reignite debate over the role of diplomacy, leadership, and American influence in one of the most volatile geopolitical theaters in the world.
